Morson Training is delighted to announce the innovative RailHub programme delivered in partnership with EY, Network Rail, Capgemini, ARUP, OnTrac and Egis, has won two prestigious awards. RailHub is the proud recipient of the ERP Today Award for Transformation Project of the Year and the New Civil Engineer Tech Fest Award 2022 in the category Best Use of Technology: Health, Safety & Wellbeing.
RailHub is a digital platform that allows users to plan and deliver safe work on the railways. Developed by EY, Capgemini and Ontrac, it has revolutionised the way in which the industry complies with the 019 standards.
By providing railway workers with a single, digital workspace to ensure that the planning and delivery of work on or near the line is implemented more safely, Railhub reduces costs and increases productivity across the industry.
Users benefit from several key features:
- An integrated system for planning work – First integration of Line Blockage and Safe Work Pack (SWP) functionality into one solution that interfaces with other Network Rail systems eg Ellipse, Sentinel, National Hazard Directory and PPS
- Streamlined workflows – increased real-time collaboration between Planners, Persons in Charge and Responsible Managers, with users leveraging chat functionality within the tool when delivering work
- Electronic Safe Work Packs (eSWP)- eSWP enables the Person in Charge to view, update and verify the SWP via a tablet remotely, before sending to the Responsible Manager for authorisation
- Industry-wide access – An integrated system for booking line blockages across the rail network, used by both Network Rail and the supply chain
Morson Training, played a key part in the project delivering training to rail workers on how to use the new technology.
Andrew Robinson, Business Manager at Morson Training explained our involvement in the project, and the innovative approach we took to delivering training to all system users to enable user adoption.
“Our approach, as always, is about engagement. Using our industry experience and expertise to help contextualize the digitisation of the process, to the real-world environment of the end users who need it. That was the key to making the training delivery programme a success.
Driving forward a transformation project that will change the industry for decades to come had its challenges, but the leadership teams at EY and NR had a clear vision and we were proud to support them in making that vision became a lifesaving reality.”
This year Railhub reached an impressive 22,000 users and provided over 250,000 Digital Safe Work packs to be used onsite. As a result we have seen a 40% reduction in errors on line blockage applications and a reported 45% reduction in duplicate effort for colleagues.
This partnership is very important to Morson Training as our aim is to offer the highest quality of talent-based learning and development solutions through creating industry-leading practices and provision. With quality sitting at the heart of all we do, we feel those we engage at all levels should experience the highest levels of delivery, supported by the very best customer service. In Network Rail and EY, we have 2 partners who share our vision and we look forward to celebrating the success of future projects in due course.
The ERP Today Awards & Fundraiser 2022 took place at the Ascot Racecourse in September and raised £150,000 for charity. The awards are judged on merit by a permanent judging panel of eight ERP industry experts.
